2025年1月27日、ニューヨーク株式市場は「DeepSeek Shock」に襲われました。ハイテク関連銘柄の多いNASDAQの株価指数が3%を超える大幅な下落を記録したのです。これは、中国発オープンソース生成AIのDeepSeekが驚異的な低コストで、ChatGPTをはじめ並みいる米国の生成AIと同等の性能を発揮し、投資家の間で米国のAI分野での優位性が失われるかもしれないという懸念が広がったのが原因でした。中でもAI向けGPUを独占的に提供しているNVIDIAの株価は16%あまり下落し、NVIDIAの時価総額はトヨタの時価総額の倍、92兆円を消失。1日あたりの消失額としては過去最高を記録しました。
DeepSeekには、さまざまな問題があります。現在、AppStoreやGoogle Play Storeで公開されているアプリは、サーバが中国に置かれているため、当然、中国政府による検閲、監視のもとにあり、たとえば、「天安門事件は？」とか「中国と台湾の関係は？」とか「くまのプーさんとは？」といったような質問には答えませんし、質問した内容も中国政府に筒抜けになっている危険性があります。また、ChatGPTの生成したデータを大量に取得して訓練に利用した「蒸留（ディスティレーション）」疑惑も持ち上がっていて、これは訴訟に発展し、利用差し止めになる可能性もあります。
しかし、オープンソースであるということは、ChatGPTなどよりも透明性、安全性が高いということであり、高性能のGPUや膨大な学習コストを必要とせず、誰もがカスタマイズでき、ローカルに実装できる生成AIが最先端に躍り出てきたことで、生成AIの潮流がまったく新しい局面を迎えたことは確かです。
そこで今回、「DeepSeekの衝撃〜中国発オープンソース生成AIは世界をどう変えるか？」というテーマでGlobal Digicon Salonを緊急開催し、ベストセラーChatGPT本『頭がいい人のChatGPT＆Copilotの使い方 』（かんき出版）を著したデジタルハリウッド大学大学院教授の橋本大也さんと、「Desperado by 妻音源とりちゃん［AI]］」で「第1回 AIアートグランプリ」の最優秀作（グランプリ）を受賞した株式会社テクノコア シニアエディター／コミュニティストラテジストの松尾公也さんをパネリストにお迎えし、生成AIの歴史を振り返りながら、「DeepSeekの衝撃」とは何なのか？ マルチモーダルはどうなっていくのか？ 日本発オープンソース生成AIの可能性は？、さらには、生成AIとロボットの組み合わせは今後どうなっていくのか？ といったことも含め、今後、生成AIは世界をどのように変えていくのか？ ということについてディスカッションしていきたいと思います。

In 1990, he moved to Softbank Japan and launched the first full DTP weekly magazine “PC WEEK”, and he served as the founding editor-in-chief of “MacUser”, “Beginners’ Mac”, and Softbank’s first paid e-mail magazine “Macintosh WIRE (MacWIRE)”. Transfer this “MacWIRE” to web media and launch “ZDNet Mac”. He was in charge of the article selection for the top page of “ITmedia” and the editorial desk of “ITmedia NEWS”.
